In Ciara’s “I can’t leave em alone” is a pop song about love. But this video promotes nudity, product placement and self-objectification. In the opening scene Curtis Jackson spits a little rap while advertising his vitamin water and his clothing brand ‘G-Unit’. In the back background there is a Pontiac G6, which is totally unnecessary. But not only that the camera focuses on the logo of the car, which is an example of product placement. Also Sony plays a role in product placement as well. They have two products being advertised in this video which are: a camera, and a Sony ericson cell phone. It’s just shows you that most music videos are paid commercials. Not let’s talk about the self-objectification. Ciara is walking down the street with as much skin showing as possible. She is the only female who is showing cleavage and the only female who is wearing provocative clothing. This character trait later results in her being nude. There is a scene where 50 cent and Ciara are holding each other in a hugging position while being nude. The camera starts to focus on particular body parts like: 50 cents abs, and as the camera rotates it show’s Ciara’s upper body emphasizing her chest. The video is 4:10 long and the nude scenes starts at 1:49. So the first part of the video is about product placement while the last part of the video is about sex. So, the message that they are sending to the attendance is that sex is a vital part of being in a relationship.
